Have we forgotten what it means to be entertained?

I finally got around to watching Aquaman last night. "I enjoyed it. It was fun." I would probably give it 3 stars. Not a bad movie. Not mind-blowing. It was entertaining, therefore it did its job.

Why am I making a point about this?

I recently read a post on Facebook where an author was complaining because someone gave them a 3 star review on Goodreads. 

3 stars mean a reader "Liked it". I know as authors, we all want to get 5-star reviews all the time. It pushes our ranking and makes us more credible as authors to new readers. Makes us feel loved and pushes us to keep going.

Got it. No argument there. 5 stars equals good. But when did 3 stars equal bad?

It makes me wonder if some authors have become so focused on having everyone say "thebook blew my mind" that they have overlooked the fact a reader enjoyed the book enough to say they LIKED it? Have we forgotten that we "entertained them"?
